It is still at debate the effect on children born to HIV infected women, exposed to HIV, papilloma yellow discharge other associated infections and to antiretrovirals. Materials and Methods. We analyzed the birth defects in perinatal HIV exposed children followed-up for 7 years. Among studied children we identified 10 cases of severe malformations: complex heart defect, Hirschsprung disease, anal imperforation, Dandy Walker Syndrome, gangliosidosis, Niemann Pick syndrome, true hermaphroditism, congenital mixedema, gastroschisis and cleft lip.

None of the children with severe birth defects were HIV infected. The rate of severe birth defects in studied children was relatively high.
